ESL TExES Prep--Test #154

This 12-hour course is designed to prepare certified teachers to take the ESL TExES #154 for ESL certification and to develop a core set of competencies needed to teach ELLs. The following topics will be covered: language concepts and second language acquisition, ESL instruction and assessment, cultural awareness and family and community involvement.

Sheltered Instruction for English Language Learners

The purpose of this course is to give teachers a deeper understanding and adequately prepare them to implement the components of sheltered instruction in their classrooms. The training will explore strategies that make subject matter concepts comprehensible to English Language Learners (ELLs) while promoting the students' English language development.

Understanding Bilingual Program Models in Texas

Texas has four bilingual programs outlined in Education Code Chapter 29 Subsection B and the Texas Administrative Code Chapter 89 subsection BB. This course will provide support in understanding each of the four outlined programs and the areas of consideration for districts in deciding which program model is the best fit.

This course may only be taken one (1) time for credit. The course Certificate of Completion will only show the original date of completion.
